driving experience at Mallory

While this circuit is widely popular in the race bike community, many people have discovered the beauty of this shorter track as part of a driving experience package.

While the configuration of the track is only 1.4 miles, it includes some very technical areas that will challenge even a seasoned driver. In addition those who decide to embark on a Mallory Park driving experience will be piloting a Single Seater, Lotus 211/Exige, or a Nissan GTR.

These vehicles have tons of horsepower and handle beautifully when operated as per an instructors advice. Click on the red shop now button above to view Mallory Park driving experiences.

While the track has a number of configurations most include a tight 180-degree hairpin on the northern section of the track. This portion of the track is commonly referred to as Shaw's Hairpin.

On the opposite end of the track is a long, sweeping right hand turn that runs about a third of a mile. From beginning to end the driver will have to navigate a 200-degree turn while trying to keep a decent amount of speed. This long stretch is named Gerard's Bend after local racing legend Bob Gerard who raced in eight Formula One Grand Prix's in the World War II era.

Mallory Park is a multi-purpose circuit located between Leicester and Hinckley, in the village of Kirkby Mallory. The full circuit measures 1.35 miles (2.173 km) while the oval circuit runs 1 mile (1.609 km). Chicanes were introduced to reduce speeds at motorcycle events such as those staged by the Superbike Circuit and this variation of the track makes the total lap distance 1.39 miles (2.237 km).

Mallory Park began its racing history as a pony trotting circuit in the 1940's. The outlay of the oval roughly matches the original track laid out by the equestrian club. Motorcycle clubs next used the facility for grass track racing before Clive Wormleighton converted it into a road circuit in 1955.

This permanent racetrack facility has hosted most of the major British car and bike championships over the years and underwent some major renovations in 2008 in order to host a round of the MX1 World Motorcross Championships.
